One mother on the hunt to rid her kitchen of toxic plastic materials.

After becoming a mother, my desire to rid our home of toxic plastic materials became a top priority. It also sent me on a journey to find more natural alternatives for our everyday household items. Now you would think that this is quite easy given the overload of products in the market. The truth is it was quite the opposite.

In the beginning, I created a list of stipulations. I knew that I wanted to focus on non-toxic/natural materials, and I knew that there were a few specific materials I absolutely did not want in my products. I also wanted to ensure that the products were recyclable. Sure, non-toxic is great, but if those products are ending up in landfills for decades then what’s the point?

Another stipulation, that proved to be one of the hardest, was making sure the products were sourced and made in the USA. That is really important to me  and something I was not willing to budge on.

I did have a few more additional requests. I wanted durable materials able to survive the trials and tribulations of life with children. (I know you hear me loud and clear moms).
Glass cups were definitely a no-go in my home with two toddlers running around.  And let me tell you, my toddlers are quicker than lighting!
When I didn't find what I was looking for, I decided to enlist my husband’s help and put his materials engineering skills to the test. In the end, we created something wonderful together! He helped with so many design elements that I would never have thought of, which truly makes our products so special.

And that, my friends, is how Katster was born.
